…is the eighth (and ninth!) album by Plan Kruutntoone, together with singers and horns from Ahura Mazda 3000, three drummers and Reinier van Houdt on keys.
…is Plan Kruutntoone’s next two albums, called respectively Ingrid and Marinus, plus a maxisingle called God (is gereedschap), with our cover of walking in the opposite direction of Adrian Borland on the flip side… The Album is out spring 2025 on the amazing esc.rec. label.
On the two LPs you will find yourself between The Bad Seeds’ gospel, Ornette Coleman’s free jazz and the strict transparency of Galina Ustvolskaja; all in Plan Kruutntoone’s own language.
Passing the age of 33 (when Jesus died…), Plan Kruutntoone decided to use its extra time to collaborate with AhuraMazda 3000 on a (anti-)gospel record: to stop handing over fear through generations and make some noise. As it is not about big and quantity; it is about small and valuable. The musicians play co-composed work and work by Hansko Visser, composer and lyrics, an admirer of idiosyncratic and passionate composers, musicians and writers such as Galina Ustvolskaja, Adrian Borland, Cornelius Cardew, and Hanns Eisler.
We worked, ate and slept in Dolf Planteijdt’s Vache a Louer studio and recorded ten new pieces with ten people, playing drums, piano, glockenspiel, Hleb, homemade organ pipes, (double)basses, bassclarinet, guitars and baritons, harmonicas, saxophones and trumpets and the old Soviet Bass we got from Sasha…… And we sang Hansko’s lyrics on fear, young grebes and outboard motors. Fish, and mental institutions. Lost parts, that, in the end, appeared not to be that indispensable.
The result is called ‘niet alles wat afwijkt is weerloos’, out on vinyl, as two 12 inch albums and a maxi single. The albums are “Ingrid”; a tribute to the South African poet Ingrid Jonker, and “Marinus” in memory of the poet Marinus van der Lubbe. The maxi single is called ‘God’ (our Plastic Ono Band’s cover), with on the B side, our cover of ‘Walking in the opposite direction’ by Adrian Borland of the Sound. The records are mastered by Zlaya Hadzic, at Loud. Artwork by Lei Visser.
We are: Bas Alblas, basses; Chris Muller / Rick Potma / Ruggero di Luisi, on drums; Hansko Visser, guitar, accordion and vocals; Reinier van Houdt, Hleb and Keys; Eduardo Doreste, bass clarinet; Austeja Žvirblyte and Gabija Bartulyte: horns and vocals.
